As this week comes to a close—one framed by the solemn reflection of Veterans Day—I am releasing a new piece of music and narrative titled “Devolution in America.”
Though the holiday itself has passed, its meaning should not fade with the calendar. Veterans Day is not just a moment for ceremony; it is a reminder of the sacrifices made to protect a democracy that must be defended continually, especially in times like these.
This composition honors those who fought for freedom while confronting the unsettling truth that freedom is under renewed attack—not at distant frontiers, but here at home. It reflects on how dehumanization, intimidation, and exclusion are again becoming normalized, and how those who claim to defend democracy often stand in opposition to its most fundamental principles.
I offer this work in gratitude to every veteran, every community defender, and every person who continues to stand guard over the idea that no one is disposable and that democracy must be lived, spoken, protected, and insisted upon—every day.
