Reversity
"It was never a backlash. It was always a plan."
In 1995, I named a strategy that most people couldn’t yet see clearly enough to name. I called it Reversity — the systematic, legally-laundered reversal of civil rights and diversity gains, disguised as neutral policy, colorblind law, or constitutional correction.
Not backlash. Not a culture war. A blueprint.
What follows is the case that the blueprint has been executing, without interruption, for over fifty years — from a 1971 confidential memo written by a corporate lawyer named Lewis Powell, through the gutting of the Voting Rights Act, to the executive orders eliminating DEI across the federal government today.
Part I names the strategy and tracks its execution. Part II asks the harder question: what do we build in response?
